BATON ROUGE, La. (December 22, 2023) – The Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association (LADA) donated $10,000 to the National Automobile Dealers Association’s (NADA) Emergency Relief Fund to provide financial help and assistance to dealership employees who have been impacted by natural disasters. In the daily lives of many Louisiana communities and businesses, facing the constant threat of violent storms, hurricanes, and natural disasters is an inherent part of residing and operating within the Gulf Coast region. “Louisianians have seen firsthand what hurricanes and extreme storms can do to our communities,” said LADA President and Chief Executive Officer Coulter McMahen. “LADA members understand the important impact these emergency relief funds provide for employees and their families. We are proud to make this donation to the NADA Foundation to help those workers who are rebuilding from tumultuous weather events.” Over the years, Louisiana has experienced a number of natural disasters, and dealership employees have received aid from donations provided by the NADA Foundation. In addition, in the aftermath of hurricanes, Louisiana dealers are often on the front line providing much needed assistance and help to the communities they serve. “Residing in a coastal state means we need to be prepared and have respect for what the power of Mother Nature can do to our communities and our businesses,” said Kristie Hebert, dealer operator of Arceneaux Ford in New Iberia and chairwoman of LADA’s board of directors. “This makes us keenly aware of our vulnerability – and why LADA’s membership is always willing to make vital contributions that not only help our friends in neighboring states affected by these storms but will also help people in our own communities rebuild after a big storm.” LADA’s $10,000 donation was secured out of profits from the organization’s 25th Annual Golf Tournament, which took place in October. “The annual golf tournament is just one of the many fundraisers that LADA members get to contribute to,” said Hebert. “In fact, each year Louisiana dealers are always finding ways to provide charitable contributions for many organizations – helping veterans, supporting education, feeding the hungry – you name it, our dealers are doing their part to better the communities they serve.” The Emergency Relief Fund is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and donations to the Emergency Relief Fund are tax deductible.
